Who am I?
Hi, I’m Pepijn Lauriks, a researcher and designer with a background in Communication & Multimedia Design (BSc) and Interaction Technology (MSc). I’m passionate about designing with people who are often designed for, especially those who fall outside of the norm.
My work lives at the intersection of research and design. I use creative and participatory research methods to understand people’s lived experiences and translate them into thoughtful, human-centered design outcomes.
For my master’s thesis, I developed a new research method focused on co-designing with neurodivergent people rather than designing on their behalf. By actively involving participants throughout the research process, the method challenges traditional designer–user hierarchies and leads to more inclusive and respectful design solutions.
Outside of work, you’ll often find me in nature or on the move, from adventurous bike trips through France to wandering through museums or soaking up live music at concerts. These experiences fuel my curiosity and continuously shape how I observe, listen, and design for people.
I’m driven by curiosity, guided by empathy, and I believe the best ideas emerge through collaboration. Whether I’m researching, designing, or facilitating, my goal is always the same: to create work that genuinely reflects the people it’s made for.
